Educational Change

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better. To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better.

~King Whitney Jr.

God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

~Reinhold Niebuhr

    • Change is projected to be the only constant for the future. Staff, students and especially administrators must embrace change to ensure success. If the change is not initiated internally, you can surely count on it coming from society in some fashion.

    • To effectively implement change, all those effected must have a clear understanding of the purpose and desired outcomes. It is difficult for people to change if they don't understand the motivation.

    • Administration should take care in selecting the proper things to change. It is not effective to make changes to things just for the sake of change. Selection of things to change should be founded through data collection, research or the desires of the staff as a whole.

I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is they must change if they are to get better.

The world hates change, yet it is the only thing that has brought progress.
