Management/Administration
Good plans shape good decisions. That's why good planning helps to make elusive dreams come true.
~Lester R. Bittel, The Nine Master Keys of Management
Administrators should manage our schools so that our students get a high-quality education.
Quality should be the highest priority of school administrators. High quality can only be achieved with careful and thorough planning.
Since schools are in the people business and it is the education of people that is our product, administration should foster positive involvement from all personnel. Teachers in particular have a tremendous amount of knowledge and work ethic; administration should empower them to be successful in educating our youth.
Effective administrators do not tell or direct but, rather inspire, support and lead.
Communication, Communication, Communication! Administrators should communicate carefully, efficiently and selectively. It is very important to communicate necessary information to proper staff in a very timely basis. One possible demise for administration is to keep needed information a secret.
Good management is the art of making problems so interesting and their solutions so constructive that everyone wants to get to work and deal with them.
~Paul Hawken, Growing a Business
